The Bride’s Search for Her Lover
All night on my bed, I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked but did not find him.
I will get up, roam the city, through streets and squares, looking for him.
The watchmen found me, I asked, “You all seen the one my heart loves,”
Soon as I passed them, I found him! I grabbed him, would not let go till I brought him to my mama’s house.
Promise me, daughters of Jerusalem, do not stir up love till it is ready.
Solomon’s Wedding Procession
Who is this coming up from the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and incense,
Look, it is Solomon’s carriage, guarded by sixty warriors, Israel’s best.
Each with a sword at his side, ready for danger at night.
King Solomon made a carriage from Lebanon wood.
Its posts silver, base gold, seat purple, the center paved with love.
Come out, daughters of Zion, look at King Solomon wearing the crown his mother gave him on his wedding day, the day his heart rejoiced.
