Psalms 91

The Protection of the Most High

1 He who lives in the secret spot of the Most High Will chill in the shadow of the All-Powerful.

2 I will say to the Lord, “My safe spot and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust.”

3 Because He will rescue you from the trap of the hunter, From the nasty plague.

4 He will cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you will run for safety; His truth is a shield and a wall.

5 You will not be scared of the terror by night, Or the arrow that flies in the day,

6 Of the plague that walks in the dark, Or the destruction that messes up at noon.

7 A thousand might fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it will not get close to you.

8 You will only look with your eyes, And see the payback of the wicked.

A Declaration of Trust

9 Because you said, “The Lord is my safe spot,” And you made the Most High your home;

10 No evil will hit you, And no plague will get to your tent.

11 Because He will order His angels about you, To keep you in all your ways.

12 They will hold you up in their hands, So you do not trip your foot on a rock.

13 You will step on the lion and the cobra; You will stomp on the young lion and the serpent.

God’s Promise

14 “Because he loved Me, I will rescue him; I will hold him up, because he knows My name.

15 He will call on Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will pull him out and give him props.

16 With long life I will fill him, And show him My rescue.”
