Psalms 9

A Prayer of Thanks

1 I am going to thank the Lord with all my heart. I am going to tell everybody about all Your dope moves.

2 I am going to be happy and celebrate in You; I am going to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.

3 When my enemies turn and run, They are going to stumble and disappear from Your presence.

4 Because You took my side and my case; You sat on the throne, a righteous judge.

5 You went off on the nations, wiped out the wicked; You erased their name forever.

6 The enemy is done, ruins forever. You took out their cities; They are not even a memory.

7 But the Lord sits on the throne forever. He set up His throne for justice.

8 He is going to judge the world fair, He is going to judge the people with straight-up justice.

A Cry for Justice

9 The Lord is a safe spot for the oppressed, A safe spot in times of trouble.

10 Those who know Your name will trust in You, because You, Lord, do not leave the ones who seek You.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, who lives in Zion. Tell everybody what He did.

12 When He goes after the blood of the oppressed, He remembers them. He does not forget the cries of the suffering.

A Plea for Help

13 Show me some mercy, Lord. Look how my enemies are hating me. Lift me up from the gates of death,

14 So I can tell everybody about Your praises in the gates of Zion’s daughter, And I can celebrate in Your rescue.

God’s Judgment

15 The nations fell into the pit they dug; Their foot got caught in the trap they set.

16 The Lord is known by the justice He brings; The wicked got caught in the hustle of their own hands.

17 The wicked will get sent to the grave, All the nations that forget God.

18 The broke is not going to be forgotten forever; The hope of the oppressed is not going to disappear forever.

A Call to God

19 Get up, Lord! Do not let humans win. Let the nations be judged in Your presence.

20 Scare them, Lord. Let the nations know they just humans.
