Read Psalms 86 in clear, relatable modern language.

A Prayer of a Troubled Soul

1 Bend Your ear, Lord, and answer me, because I am broke and needy.

2 Keep my soul, because I am faithful; My God, save Your servant who trusts in You.

3 Show me grace, Lord, because I call on You all day.

4 Make Your servant’s soul happy, because to You, Lord, I lift up my soul.

5 Because You, Lord, are good and ready to forgive, And full of loyal grace for all who call on You.

6 Listen, Lord, to my prayer; Pay attention to my cry.

7 In the day of my trouble I will call on You, because You will answer me.

A Song of Praise to God

8 Nobody is like You among the gods, Lord, And there is no works like Yours.

9 All the nations You made will come And bow down in front of You, Lord, And they will give props to Your name.

10 Because You are big and You do awesome stuff; You alone are God.

A Prayer for Guidance

11 Teach me Your way, Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Make my heart single to fear Your name.

12 I will thank You, Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will give props to Your name forever.

13 Because Your grace is massive for me, And You saved my soul from the lowest grave.

A Cry Against the Proud

14 God, the proud got up against me, And a crew of violent dudes looked for my life; And they did not put You in front of them.

15 But You, Lord, are a God of mercy and grace, Slow to get mad, and big in loyal grace and truth.

16 Turn to me and show me grace; Give Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your servant.

17 Show me a sign for good, So those who hate me can see and be ashamed, because You, Lord, helped me and comforted me.
