Psalms 76
Read Psalms 76 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Hymn to God’s Power
1 In Judah, God is known; His name is big in Israel.
2 His tent is in Salem, His home in Zion.
3 There He broke the flashes of the bow, The shield, the sword, and the war.
4 You are awesome and more majestic Than the mountains of prey.
5 The brave are robbed of their hearts; They went to sleep; And none of the strong dudes Could find their hands.
6 At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both chariot and horse went to sleep.
A Warning to the Wicked
7 You, You are to be feared; And who can stand in front of You when You are mad,
8 From heaven You made judgment be heard; The earth was scared and was quiet,
9 When God got up to judge, To save all the humble of the earth.
10 For sure, the anger of humans will praise You; With the rest of the wrath, You will strap Yourself.
11 Make and pay your promises to the Lord your God; Let all around Him bring gifts to Him who is to be feared.
12 He cuts off the spirit of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.
