Psalms 77

Read Psalms 77 in clear, relatable modern language.

A Cry of Despair

I cry out to God with my voice; To God with my voice, and He will hear me.

In the day of my trouble I look for the Lord; At night my hand is out and does not get tired; My soul do not want to be comforted.

I think about God, and I groan; I think, and my spirit gets weak.

You held my eyes open; I am so messed up I cannot talk.

I think about the days of old, The years of the past.

I think about my song at night; I talk with my own heart, And my spirit looks for it.

Will the Lord push away forever, And will He never be happy again,

Is His loyal grace gone forever, Is the promise finished for all generations,

Did God forget to be graceful, Did He shut up His mercy in anger, A Declaration of Faith

Then I said, “This is my weakness, That the right hand of the Most High changed.”

I will remember the works of the Lord; I will remember Your miracles from the old days.

I will think about all Your work, And I will think about Your doings.

God, Your way is holy; What god is big-time like our God,

You are the God who does miracles; You made Your strength known among the people.

You rescued Your crew with Your arm, The sons of Jacob and Joseph.

A Look Back to the Red Sea

The waters saw You, God, The waters saw You; they were in awe; The deeps also trembled.

The clouds poured out water; The sky let out a sound; Your arrows also shot out.

The sound of Your thunder was in the storm; The lightning lit up the world; The earth shook and trembled.

Your way was in the sea, And Your paths in the big waters; And Your footprints were not known.

You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
