Psalms 64
Read Psalms 64 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Prayer Against Enemies
1 Listen to my voice, God, in my complaint; Keep my life from the scare of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret schemes of the evil-doers, From the crew of those who do wrong,
3 Who sharpened their tongue like a sword, Who shot out their bitter words like an arrow,
4 To shoot the perfect dude in his hiding spot; They shoot him suddenly and they are not scared.
5 They hold on to their evil plan; They talk about hiding traps; They say, “Who is going to see them?”
6 They cook up evil stuff; They say, “We figured out a perfect plan.” Because the heart and the gut of a dude is deep.
The Lord’s Judgment
7 But God will shoot them with an arrow; They will be hit all of a sudden.
8 They will make their own tongue trip them up; All who see them will shake their heads.
9 Then all of humanity will be in awe; They will tell about the work of God, And they will get what He did.
10 The righteous will be happy in the Lord and run to Him for safety; And all the straight-up people will brag.
