Psalms 63

Read Psalms 63 in clear, relatable modern language.

A Deep Longing for God

1 God, You are my God; I look for You hard; My soul is thirsty for You; My body wants You In a dry and tired land where there is no water.

2 So I looked at You in the holy spot, To see Your strength and Your props.

3 Because Your grace is better than life, My lips will praise You.

4 So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

5 My soul will be full like with fat and marrow, And my mouth will praise You with cheering lips.

6 When I think about You on my bed, And I think about You in the night watches,

7 Because You were my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I will sing out loud.

8 My soul is holding tight to You; Your right hand holds me up.

A Prayer for God’s Justice

9 But those who look to take my life, They are going to go down to the lowest parts of the earth.

10 They will be handed over to the power of the sword; They will be food for jackals.

11 But the king will be happy in God; Everyone who swears by Him will brag, because the mouth of those who lie will be shut.
