Psalms 49

The Folly of Trusting in Wealth

1 Hear this, all you people; Listen up, all you who live in the world,

2 Both the low and the high, The rich and the broke, together.

3 My mouth is going to talk wisdom, And my heart will think about what is real.

4 I will bend my ear to a saying; I will open my deep thought on the guitar.

5 Why should I be scared in bad times, When the sin of my chasers surrounds me,

6 Those who trust in their money, And brag about their massive wealth,

7 Nobody can rescue his homie or give God a price for his life,

8 Because the price of a soul is too expensive, And you can never pay enough,

9 So he can live forever, And not see the pit.

The Finality of Death

10 Because he sees that the wise die, The fool and the clueless also get wiped out And leave their money to others.

11 Their thought is that their homes will last forever, Their houses for all generations; They call their lands by their own names.

12 But a dude in props will not last; He is like an animal that gets killed.

13 This is the way of those who are foolish; And those after them who are happy with their words.

14 They are like sheep going to the grave; Death is going to be their shepherd. And the straight-up will rule over them in the morning; And their beauty will waste away in the grave.

15 But God will rescue my soul from the power of the grave, because He is going to get me.

A Warning to the Wealthy

16 Do not be scared when a dude gets rich, When the props of his house get bigger.

17 Because when he dies he is not taking anything with him; His props is not going to go down with him.

18 Even if he blesses his soul while he is alive, And people praise you when you are doing well,

19 He will go to the family of his dads; They have never going to see light.

20 A dude in props who do not get it, Is like an animal that gets killed.
