Psalms 48

Read Psalms 48 in clear, relatable modern language.

God’s City

1 Big is the Lord, and super worthy of praise In the city of our God, His holy mountain.

2 Beautiful for its height, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion, on the north side, The city of the great King.

3 God in her palaces Showed Himself as a fortress.

The Power of God

4 Because look, the kings got together, They passed by together.

5 They saw, and they were shocked; They were scared, they ran away in a hurry.

6 Trembling got a hold of them there, Pain like a woman giving birth.

7 You broke the ships of Tarshish With an east wind.

8 Just like we heard, so we seen In the city of the Lord of armies, In the city of our God, God keeps her standing forever.

A Hymn of Praise

9 God, we thought about Your grace in the middle of Your temple.

10 Just like Your name, God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Let Mount Zion be happy, Let the daughters of Judah celebrate because of Your judgments.

12 Walk around Zion, go all around her; Count her towers.

13 Think about her walls, Check out her palaces, So you can tell the next generation.

14 Because this God is our God forever; He will be our guide even to death.
