Psalms 33
Read Psalms 33 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Call to Praise God
1 Celebrate in the Lord, you righteous; Praise from the straight is dope.
2 Thank the Lord with the guitar; Sing to Him with a ten-string guitar.
3 Sing to Him a new song; Play with skill and shout out.
God’s Power and Wisdom
4 Because the Lord’s word is straight, And everything He does is trustworthy.
5 He loves what is right and fair; The earth is full of the Lord’s grace.
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all their stars by the breath of His mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea like a pile; He puts the deeps in storehouses.
8 Let the whole earth fear the Lord; Let all the people of the world be in awe of Him.
9 Because He spoke, and it happened; He commanded, and it stood up.
God’s Purpose and Goodness
10 The Lord messes up the plans of the nations; He stops the schemes of the people.
11 The Lord’s plan stands forever, The thoughts of His heart from one generation to the next.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He chose as His own.
13 The Lord looks down from heaven; He sees all the human race.
14 From where He lives, He looks at all the people on earth.
15 He is the one who made their hearts; He pays attention to all they do.
A Call to Trust
16 A king is not saved by his big-time army; A soldier is not rescued by his great strength.
17 A horse is a fake way to get saved; By its great power, it is not going to save anybody.
18 Look, the Lord’s eye is on those who fear Him, On those who wait for His grace,
19 To rescue their soul from death And to keep them alive when there is no food.
20 Our soul waits on the Lord; He is our help and our shield.
21 Because our heart is happy in Him, because we trusted in His holy name.
22 Lord, let Your grace be on us, Just like we wait on You.
