Psalms 34
Read Psalms 34 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Prayer of Thanks
1 I will bless the Lord all the time; His praise will always be in my mouth.
2 My soul will brag in the Lord; The humble will hear and be happy.
3 Lift up the Lord with me, And let us praise His name together.
The Deliverance of the Righteous
4 I looked for the Lord, and He answered me, And rescued me from all my fears.
5 They looked at Him and their faces were lit up, And they were not put to shame.
6 This broke dude cried out, and the Lord heard, And saved him from all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord camps around those who fear Him, And rescues them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; Happy is the dude who runs to Him for safety.
9 Fear the Lord, you His saints, because those who fear Him do not want for anything.
10 The young lions can be broke and hungry, But those who look for the Lord will not miss out on any good thing.
The Fear of the Lord
11 Come, you kids, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the dude who wants life And loves to see good days,
13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from talking slick.
14 Get away from evil and do good; Look for peace and go after it.
God’s Promise
15 The Lord’s eyes are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.
16 The Lord’s face is against those who do evil, To wipe out their memory from the earth.
17 When the righteous cry out, the Lord listens And rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, And He saves those whose spirit is crushed.
19 Many troubles come to the righteous, But the Lord rescues him from all of them.
20 He keeps all his bones; Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil will kill the wicked, And those who hate the righteous will be punished.
22 The Lord rescues the soul of His servants, And nobody who runs to Him for safety will be punished.
