Psalms 27

Read Psalms 27 in clear, relatable modern language.

The Lord Is My Light

1 The Lord is my light and my rescue; who I am going to be scared of, The Lord is the strength of my life; who am I am going to be afraid of,

2 When the evil-doers came at me to eat my meat, My enemies and my haters, they stumbled and fell.

3 Even if an army camps against me, my heart is not going to be scared; If a war comes at me, even then I will be confident.

A Desire to Dwell with God

4 There is one thing I asked from the Lord, that is what I am going to go for: That I may live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To see the beauty of the Lord and ask Him for real in His temple.

5 Because in the day of trouble, He is going to hide me in His tent; In the secret spot of His tent, He is going to hide me; He is going to lift me up on a rock.

6 And now my head will be lifted high Over my enemies around me; And I will offer sacrifices of cheering in His tent; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

A Cry for God’s Help

7 Listen to my voice, Lord, when I call out; Show me grace and answer me.

8 You said, “Look for My face”; My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will look for.”

9 Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away when You mad. You been my help; Do not leave me or ditch me, God of my rescue.

10 Even if my mom and dad ditch me, The Lord is going to take me in.

11 Teach me Your way, Lord, And lead me on a straight path because of my enemies.

12 Do not hand me over to the plans of my haters; because fake witnesses came up against me, And they breathing out violence.

Confidence in God

13 I believe I will see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord; Be strong and let your heart be brave; And wait on the Lord.
