Psalms 20

A Prayer for the King

1 May the Lord answer you in your day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe!

2 May He send you help from His holy spot And support you from Zion!

3 May He remember all your offerings And accept your fat sacrifices!

4 May He give you what your heart wants And make all your plans work!

5 We will cheer for Your rescue, And raise our flags in the name of our God. May the Lord give you all you ask for!

Confidence in God

6 Now I know the Lord saves His chosen one. He will answer him from His holy heaven With the power of His rescuing right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, But we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

8 They are going to fall and trip, But we are going to get up and stand strong.

9 Lord, save the king! Answer us when we call!
