A Hymn of Trust in the Lord

Praise the Lord! My soul, praise the Lord!

I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will make music to my God as long as I am around.

Do not trust in princes, In a son of man, in whom there is no rescue.

His breath goes out, he goes back to his earth; In that same day his thoughts are gone.

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God,

Who made the heavens and the earth, The sea and all that is in them, Who keeps truth forever,

Who does justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners;

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord lifts up those who are brought down; The Lord loves the righteous;

The Lord keeps the strangers; He holds up the orphan and the widow, But He messes up the way of the wicked.

The Lord will be King forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!
