Psalms 143
Read Psalms 143 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Prayer for God’s Mercy
1 Lord, hear my prayer; Bend Your ear to my pleas in Your truth; Answer me in Your righteousness.
2 And do not go to court with Your servant, because in front of You no dude alive is righteous.
3 Because the enemy chased my soul; He crushed my life to the ground; He made me live in dark spots, like those who been dead forever.
4 So my spirit is weak in me; My heart is numb inside me.
A Plea for God’s Guidance
5 I remember the days of old; I think about all Your works; I think about the work of Your hands.
6 I hold out my hands to You; My soul is like a dry land thirsty for You.
7 Hurry up and answer me, Lord; My spirit is gone; Do not hide Your face from me, So I do not be like those who go down to the pit.
8 Make me hear Your loyal grace in the morning, because I trust in You; Show me the way I should walk, because to You I lift up my soul.
A Final Plea
9 Rescue me, Lord, from my enemies; I run to You for safety.
10 Teach me to do Your will, because You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on a straight path.
11 Lord, for the sake of Your name, give me life; In Your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.
12 And in Your loyal grace, finish off my enemies, And wipe out all who do me wrong, because I am Your servant.
