Psalms 142
Read Psalms 142 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Prayer from a Cave
1 With my voice I cry out to the Lord; With my voice I beg the Lord for mercy.
2 I spill my complaint in front of Him; I tell about my trouble in front of Him.
3 When my spirit is weak in me, You know my path. In the way where I walk They hid a trap for me.
A Cry for God’s Protection
4 Look to my right and see, because there is not anybody who knows me; There is not anywhere to run; There is no one who cares for my soul.
5 I cried out to You, Lord; I said, “You are my safe spot, My portion in the land of the living.”
6 Pay attention to my cry, because I am brought down low; Rescue me from my chasers, because they are too strong for me.
7 Bring my soul out of prison, To thank Your name; The righteous will gather around me, because You will deal with me big-time.
