Psalms 141

Read Psalms 141 in clear, relatable modern language.

A Prayer for God’s Help

1 Lord, I cry out to You; hurry up and get to me! Listen to my voice when I cry out to You.

2 Let my prayer be set up like smoke in front of You, The lifting of my hands like the evening offering.

3 Lord, set a guard on my mouth; Keep the door of my lips.

4 Do not bend my heart to any evil thing, To do evil stuff with dudes who do wrong; And do not let me eat their nice food.

A Vow of Integrity

5 Let the righteous dude hit me; it is a loyal favor; And let him call me out; it is like oil on the head; My head will not look down on it. Because my prayer is always against their evil.

6 When their leaders are thrown down on the sides of the rock, They will hear my words, for they are sweet.

7 As when a dude plows and messes up the earth, Our bones were scattered at the mouth of the grave.

A Final Plea

8 But my eyes are on You, Lord God; In You I run for safety; do not leave my soul exposed.

9 Keep me from the trap they set for me, And from the traps of the evil-doers.

10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets together, While I pass by safely.
