Psalms 115
Read Psalms 115 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Hymn to the True God
1 Not to us, Lord, not to us, But to Your name give props, because of Your loyal grace, because of Your truth.
2 Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He wants.
A Rebuke to Idols
4 Their idols are silver and gold, The work of human hands.
5 They got a mouth, but they do not speak; They got eyes, but they do not see;
6 They got ears, but they do not hear; They got a nose, but they do not smell;
7 They got hands, but they do not feel; They got feet, but they do not walk; And they do not make a sound from their throat.
8 Those who made them are like them, So is everyone who trusts in them.
A Call for Israel to Trust
9 Israel, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield.
10 Family of Aaron, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and their shield.
A Final Blessing
12 The Lord remembered us; He will bless us; He will bless the family of Israel; He will bless the family of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, The small and the big.
14 The Lord will add to you, To you and to your kids.
15 You are blessed by the Lord, Who made the heavens and the earth.
16 The heavens are the Lord’s heavens, But the earth He gave to the sons of humans.
17 The dead do not praise the Lord, And nobody who goes down to silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord From now on and forever. Praise the Lord!
