Psalms 116

Read Psalms 116 in clear, relatable modern language.

A Hymn of Thanks

I love the Lord, because He heard My voice and my prayers.

Because He bent His ear to me, So I will call on Him as long as I live.

The ropes of death got me, And the scares of the grave hit me; I found trouble and sorrow.

Then I called on the name of the Lord: “Lord, please save my soul!”

The Lord is graceful and righteous; Our God is full of mercy.

The Lord keeps the simple; I was brought down, and He saved me.

My soul, go back to your rest, because the Lord was good to you.

A Vow of Praise

Because You rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling.

I will walk in front of the Lord In the land of the living.

I believed, so I spoke; I was super brought down.

I said in my panic, “All humans are liars.”

What can I give back to the Lord For all His gifts to me,

I will lift up the cup of rescue And call on the name of the Lord.

I will pay my promises to the Lord In front of all His people.

Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His faithful ones.

For sure, Lord, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maid; You loosened my chains.

I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanks, And I will call on the name of the Lord.

I will pay my promises to the Lord In front of all His people,

In the yards of the Lord’s house, In the middle of you, Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!
