A Hymn of Praise for the Exodus

1 When Israel went out of Egypt, The family of Jacob from a foreign people,

2 Judah became His holy spot, Israel His kingdom.

3 The sea saw and ran away; The Jordan turned back.

4 The mountains skipped like rams, The hills like lambs.

5 What is up, sea, that you ran away, You, Jordan, that you turned back,

6 You mountains, that you skipped like rams, You hills, like lambs,

7 Tremble, earth, in front of the Lord, In front of the God of Jacob,

8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a water spring.
