1 Then Job answered.

2 “Listen, what help were you to the weak, You are not giving strength to powerless folks.

3 What wisdom did you really spit, Who coached you to drop these weak lines,

God’s Power Over the Universe

4 “The dead tremble under the waters and their inhabitants.

5 The grave is wide open in front of God; destruction has no cover from Him.

6 He stretches out the sky over nothing, hangs the earth on empty space.

7 He wraps up water in His clouds, but the clouds do not break from the weight.

8 He hides His throne behind the clouds, spreads them around it.

9 He draws a circle on the waters, setting boundaries between light and darkness.

10 The pillars of heaven shake and tremble when He speaks with His power.

God’s Works Are Beyond Understanding

11 By His power He split the sea, and by His wisdom He smashed Rahab.

12 By His Spirit He dressed up the skies; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

13 And listen, these are just the edges of His works, just whispers of what He does. Who can handle the full thunder of His power?”
