Creation of Humans and Eden
So the heavens and the earth, and everything in them, were finished.
By the seventh day, God was done. He chilled and rested.
God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because He was done with all His work.
This is the story of how it all went down, God made the heavens and the earth.
Back when there were no plants and no rain, and no one to work the ground,
God made a mist rise from the ground to water the whole surface of the earth.
Then God took dirt, shaped a man, and breathed life into him, man became alive.
God planted a garden in Eden and put the man there.
He grew all kinds of trees, some good for food, others just straight-up beautiful. The tree of life and the tree of knowing good and evil were there too.
A river flowed from Eden to water the garden, splitting into four rivers.
First was Pishon, flowing through Havilah (where there is gold).
The gold there is pure, and there is bdellium and onyx stone too.
Second was Gihon, running through Cush.
Third was Tigris, flowing east of Assyria, and fourth was Euphrates.
God put the man in Eden to work it and take care of it.
He told the man, ‘You can eat from any tree here,’
‘Except the tree of knowing good and evil, eat from that, and you are done.’
God said, ‘It is not good for man to be alone. I will make him a partner.’
So God made all animals and brought them to Adam to name them.
Adam named them all, but none of them was the right partner for him.
So God put Adam to sleep, took a rib out, and made a woman from it.
Then He brought her to Adam.
Adam said, ‘This one’s bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh. She will be called woman because she came from man.’
That is why a man leaves his parents and joins his wife, and they become one.
They were both naked and cool with it, no shame at all.
