The Creation Story

In the beginning, God kicked it all off, He made the heavens and the earth.

The earth was all wild and empty, darkness was everywhere, and God’s Spirit was just chilling over the deep waters.

God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and boom, there it was.

He saw the light was good, so He separated it from the darkness.

God called the light ‘day’ and the darkness ‘night.’ That was day one, done.

Then God said, ‘Let us put a dome in the middle of the waters to separate them.’

So He made the dome and split the waters, some stayed below, some went above. That is how it went down.

God called the dome ‘sky.’ And that was day two, done.

God said, ‘Let the waters under the sky gather in one place so dry land can show up.’ And that is what happened.

He called the dry land ‘earth’ and the waters ‘seas.’ God saw it was all good.

Then He said, ‘Let the earth grow plants, trees, veggies, seeds, and fruit.’ And boom, it happened.

The earth sprouted green, trees and plants making seeds and fruit. God saw it was good.

And that was day three, done.

God said, ‘Let lights pop up in the sky to separate day from night and mark seasons, days, and years.’

‘Let them shine on earth,’ and it was a wrap.

God made two big lights, the sun to run the day and the moon to hold down the night. Oh, and stars too.

He set them up in the sky to light the earth.

They handled day and night and kept light and darkness apart. God saw it was good.

And that was day four, done.

God said, ‘Let the water be full of living things and the sky packed with birds flying.’

So He made all kinds of sea creatures and birds. God saw it was good.

God blessed them, saying, ‘You all be fruitful, multiply, and fill the water and the sky.’

And that was day five, done.

God said, ‘Let the earth bring out all kinds of animals, wild ones, tame ones, even the creepy-crawlies.’ And boom, they showed up.

He made them all and saw it was good.

Then God said, ‘Let us make humans in our image to run this place, take care of the fish, birds, animals, and the whole earth.’

So He made humans in His image, male and female, and blessed them.

God told them, ‘You all run this. Fill the earth, take charge of it, and handle all the fish, birds, and animals.’

He said, ‘I am giving you all every seed-bearing plant and fruit tree for food.’

And for the animals, every green plant is theirs to eat.’ And that is how it was.

God looked over everything He made and said, ‘This is real good.’ That was day six, done.
