Exodus 36

Bezalel, Oholiab, and the Workers Get to Work

1 Bezalel, Oholiab, and all the skilled workers who the Lord gave wisdom to started building the Tabernacle exactly how God commanded.

2 Moses called Bezalel, Oholiab, and every worker who had skills and a willing heart to come do the work.

The People Bring Too Many Offerings

3 They got all the offerings the Israelites had brought for the Lord’s work. Every morning, the people kept bringing more gifts.

4 Eventually, the skilled workers building the Tabernacle stopped what they were doing.

5 They told Moses, ‘Listen, the people brought way more than we need to do what the Lord commanded!’

6 So Moses sent word through the camp: ‘Aye, stop bringing offerings! We got more than enough!’

7 The people finally stopped, and the materials were more than enough for the work.

Building the Tabernacle

8 The skilled workers made ten curtains from fine linen, embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, decorated with cherubim.

9 Each curtain was 42 feet long and 6 feet wide, and they were all the same size.

10 They joined five curtains together and did the same with the other five.

11 They made blue loops along the edge of the last curtain in each set.

12 Fifty loops on one set lined up with fifty loops on the other.

13 Then they made fifty gold clasps to join the two sets together so it was one big covering.

The Goat Hair Covering

14 They made eleven curtains of goat hair for an additional tent covering over the Tabernacle.

15 Each one was 45 feet long and 6 feet wide, all the same size.

16 They joined five curtains together and six curtains together.

17 They made fifty loops along the edges of the last curtain in each set.

18 Then they made fifty bronze clasps to join them together as one covering.

More Coverings

19 They made a covering from ram skins dyed red and another one from fine leather to go over everything.

The Tabernacle’s Frames

20 They made upright frames for the Tabernacle from acacia wood.

21 Each frame was 15 feet high and 2 ¼ feet wide.

22 Each had two pegs to connect them, and all were made the same way.

23 They made twenty frames for the south side of the Tabernacle,

24 With forty silver bases under them, two bases under each frame for its two pegs.

25 They made twenty frames for the north side,

26 With forty silver bases, two under each frame.

27 For the back (west side), they made six frames,

28 Plus two extra corner frames.

29 The corner frames were joined at the bottom and top by a ring.

30 There were eight frames total, with sixteen silver bases, two under each frame.

The Crossbars

31 They made crossbars of acacia wood, five for each side of the Tabernacle.

32 Five for the north side and five for the back.

33 The middle crossbar ran from end to end through the frames.

34 They covered the frames in gold and made gold rings to hold the crossbars, which were also covered in gold.

The Inner Curtain (the Veil)

35 They made a thick curtain from blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, woven into fine linen, and decorated with cherubim.

36 They hung it on four posts of acacia wood covered in gold, with gold hooks, standing on four silver bases.

The Entrance Curtain

37 For the entrance, they made another curtain from blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, finely woven linen, and embroidered.

38 They hung it on five posts covered in gold, with gold hooks. The posts stood on five bronze bases.
