Godlessness in the Last Days

1 Timothy, just know this: in the last days, it is going to get real tough out here.

2 People are going to be selfish, greedy for money, boastful, and arrogant. They will be talking smack about God, disrespecting their parents, ungrateful, and unholy.

3 They will be heartless, unforgiving, full of slander, wild, and out of control. They will hate what is good,

4 Be straight-up traitors, reckless, and too in love with themselves and their pleasure instead of loving God.

5 They will act like they are godly but deny the real power of God. Stay away from folks like that.

6 They are the type to creep into people’s houses and manipulate vulnerable women, weighed down by sins and led by all kinds of desires.

7 They are always learning but never figuring out the truth.

8 Just like Jannes and Jambres went against Moses, these fools resist the truth. Their minds are corrupt, and their faith is not legit.

9 But they will not get far, because their nonsense will be obvious to everybody, just like it was with Jannes and Jambres.

The Power of Scripture

10 But you, Timothy, you have been following my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

11 And even the persecutions and suffering I went through, like what happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. The Lord rescued me from all of it.

12 And straight up, anyone who wants to live godly in Christ Jesus will face persecution.

13 But evil people and scammers are just going to keep getting worse, deceiving others and getting deceived themselves.

14 But you, Stick to what you have learned and believe, knowing the people who taught you.

15 Since you were a kid, you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness.

17 It equips God’s people for every good work, making them ready for whatever God has got planned.
