2 Timothy 2

Be Strong and Faithful

1 Listen, Timothy, my guy, stay strong in the grace that comes from Christ Jesus.

2 Take everything I taught you, stuff witnessed by mad trustworthy folks, and pass it on to people who will be faithful to teach others.

3 Join me in the struggle, like a soldier representing for Christ.

4 A real soldier do not get caught up in civilian life; they stay focused on pleasing the one who enlisted them.

5 Same with athletes, they must play by the rules if they want to win that gold.

6 And farmers, They work hard, so they deserve to be the first to enjoy the crops.

7 Think about what I am saying, and the Lord will help you understand it all.

8 Never forget Jesus Christ, He came from David’s bloodline, rose from the dead, and that is the gospel I preach.

9 I am suffering for this, even locked up like a criminal, but God’s Word cannot be chained.

10 I go through all this for the sake of God’s chosen ones, so they can grab that salvation in Christ and eternal glory.

Approved Workers

11 If we died with Him, we will also live with Him.

12 If we endure, we will reign with Him. If we deny Him, He will deny us.

13 But even if we are unfaithful, He stays faithful, He cannot deny who He is.

14 Keep reminding the fam about these things. Warn them not to get caught up in pointless arguments, they only mess people up.

15 Do your best to present yourself to God as approved, a worker who is not ashamed and who keeps it real with the Word of truth.

16 Stay away from trash talk and empty chatter, it leads people deeper into ungodliness.

17 That kind of talk spreads like an infection. Look at Hymenaeus and Philetus, they straight-up swerved off the path,

18 saying the resurrection already happened, messing up the faith of some folks.

19 But God’s solid foundation stands firm with this seal: “The Lord knows who is His,” and “Everyone who claims His name better turn from wickedness.”

20 In a big house, there are all kinds of stuff, gold, silver, wood, clay. Some are for honorable use, and some are not.

21 If you clean yourself up from dishonorable stuff, you will be a vessel of honor, set apart, useful to the Master, ready for every good work.

22 Run from youthful desires and chase righteousness, faith, love, and peace with the fam who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

23 Do not mess with stupid arguments, they just lead to drama.

24 A servant of the Lord does not need to be out here fighting. Be kind to everybody, able to teach, and patient with tough people.

25 Gently correct those who wild out. Maybe God will help them change their minds and turn to the truth,

26 and they will come to their senses, escaping the devil’s trap. He is out here trying to catch folks to do his will.
