Urban Word Bible
Corinthians 2
Read 1 Corinthians 2 in clear, relatable modern language.
Christ Crucified
When I rolled up on you all, fam, I did not come with all that fancy talk or try to flex my smarts when I was breaking down God’s plan.
I made up my mind that all I was going to talk about with you all was Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. That is it.
I came to you all shook, trembling, and feeling weak, no cap.
My words and message were not about slick talk or persuasive speech. Nah, it was all about showing God’s Spirit and His power.
So that your faith would not be built on human wisdom, but on God’s power. Straight up.
Wisdom from the Spirit
Now, we do speak wisdom to those who are grown in the faith, but not the wisdom of this world or the rulers of this age, who are fading away.
We talking God’s secret wisdom, the mystery that has been hidden but planned way back for our glory before the world even popped off.
None of the rulers of this world got it, because if they had known, they would not have crucified the King of Glory.
But like the scriptures say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things God has got ready for those who love Him.”
But God lets us in on the secret through His Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, even the deep things of God.
Who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit inside them, Same thing with God, nobody knows God’s thoughts except God’s Spirit.
And guess what, We did not get the spirit of the world; we got the Spirit from God, so we can understand what He is hooking us up with.
So when we speak, we are not using human wisdom to explain spiritual stuff. Nah, we are taught by the Spirit, using spiritual words for spiritual truths.
People who do not roll with the Spirit cannot understand the things from God’s Spirit. To them, it is all foolishness because it is only understood through the Spirit.
The spiritual person checks out all things, but nobody can check them out. They got the Spirit’s insight.
For who has got the mind of the Lord that they can school Him, But we got the mind of Christ.
