1 Corinthians 1

Greeting and Thanksgiving

1 This is Paul, rolling with God’s plan, an apostle of Christ Jesus, sent out by God Himself. And I am here with my bro Sosthenes.

2 I am hollering at the crew over in Corinth, you all who God made holy in Christ Jesus. You all are called to be God’s people, just like every homie everywhere who calls on Jesus, our Lord. He is not just our Lord, but yours too!

3 Much love and peace to you all from God, our Father, and from the King Himself, Jesus.

4 I always thank God for you, my people, because God blessed you all through Christ. Straight up.

5 Through Jesus, you all got hooked up, speech, knowledge, you name it, you got it all.

6 You all proved the truth about Christ when you all got in the game, no doubt.

7 So now, you are not lacking any spiritual swag while you wait for the King, Jesus, to show up again.

8 God has got you all covered, holding you down until the end, so you will be blameless when Jesus comes back.

9 God is always keeping it 100. He called you to ride with His Son, Jesus our Lord.

Divisions in the Church

10 Now, fam, I am begging you all in the name of Jesus, you all must stop beefing! Stay tight and agree with each other. Be united, one squad, one mind.

11 I got word from Chloe’s people that you all got some drama popping off, and I am not feeling it.

12 Some of you all are saying, “I am down with Paul,” others, “I ride with Apollos,” others with Peter, and some just “I am representing Christ.” Listen, you all wilding.

13 Was Christ divided up into squads, Did I, Paul, die on the cross for you all, Did you all get baptized in my name, Nah, man.

14 I thank God I am not baptize none of you all except Crispus and Gaius.

15 So none of you all can say you got baptized in my name.

16 Oh yeah, I did baptize the Stephanas fam too. Besides that, I do not remember baptizing anybody else.

17 Christ did not send me to baptize but to drop the gospel. And I did not come with fancy words to water down the power of the cross.

Christ the Wisdom of God

18 Look, talking about the cross is foolishness to them who are tryna be slick, but for us who are saved, that is the real power of God.

19 It is written: “I am going to shut down the wisdom of the wise and make the intelligence of the intelligent look dumb.”

20 Where the wise heads at, Where the scholars, Where the deep thinkers of this world, Is not God made the world’s wisdom look straight up foolish,

21 For all the world’s smarts, they did not know God. So through what they call “foolish,” God was saving folks who believed.

22 Jews be looking for signs, Greeks want wisdom,

23 But we preach Christ, who got crucified. The Jews trip off that, and the non-Jews think it is stupid.

24 But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is God’s power and wisdom.

25 God’s “foolishness” is wiser than man’s wisdom, and God’s “weakness” is stronger than man’s strength.

26 Check it, fam, when you all were called, not many of you all were ballers, not many were wise or powerful, and not many came from noble fams.

27 But God picked the foolish things of the world to put the wise on blast. He chose the weak things to flex on the strong.

28 God picked the low-key, despised things, the nothing, to bring to nothing the things that are.

29 So nobody can boast and act like they did it on their own in front of God.

30 It is because of God that you all are in Christ Jesus, who is our wisdom, our righteousness, our holiness, and our redemption.

31 So if you are going to boast, do it like the scripture says, boast in the Lord.
