Urban Word Bible
Corinthians 3
Read 1 Corinthians 3 in clear, relatable modern language.
Servants of Christ
Family, I could not even talk to you all like you all were spiritual, because you all were acting like babies in Christ, real fleshly, for real.
I had to give you all milk because you all were not ready for real food yet. Matter of fact, you all still are not ready.
You all still moving like the world, with all this jealousy and beef between you. is not that proof you still living like regular folks,
When you all say, “I roll with Paul” or “I roll with Apollos,” are you not all acting just like everybody else,
Who is Apollos, Who is Paul, We just God’s workers, doing our job, helping you all believe. Each of us doing what the Lord gave us to do.
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but it is God who made it grow.
So it is not about the one who plants or the one who waters. It is all about God who makes stuff grow.
The planter and the waterer are on the same team, but each one will get their own reward based on what they did.
We are just God’s coworkers. You all are God’s field, God’s building.
By God’s grace, I laid the foundation like a skilled builder, and now someone else is building on it. But everybody better watch how they build.
Because no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, jewels, or even wood, hay, and straw,
The days are going to come when it is all tested by fire, and the fire will show what kind of work each person did.
If what they built survives, they will get rewarded.
But if it burns up, they are going to take a loss. They will still get saved, but just barely, like somebody escaping through the flames.
God’s Temple
Do you not all know you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you,
If anyone messes with God’s temple, God is going to mess them up. Because God’s temple is holy, and that is exactly what you all are.
Do not fool yourselves. If anybody thinks they are wise by the world’s standards, they need to become fools to really be wise.
Because the world’s wisdom is straight foolishness to God. Like the scripture says, “He catches the wise in their trickiness.”
And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, and He knows they are not worth much.”
So stop bragging about human leaders. Everything already belongs to you all:
Whether it is Paul, Apollos, Peter, the world, life, death, the present, or the future, it is all yours,
And you all belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
