Read 1 Corinthians 13 in clear, relatable modern language.

The Way of Love

Listen, if I can speak in all kinds of languages, whether human or even angel talk, but I do not have love, I am just making noise like a clanking cymbal or a blaring horn.

If I got the gift to prophesy, if I understand all the deep mysteries, got mad knowledge, and have faith so strong I can move mountains, but I do not have love, I am nothing.

If I give away all my money to the poor and even let myself get burned up as a martyr, but I do not have love, I gained nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not get jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.

Love does not act rude or selfish, it does not trip off things easily, and it does not keep count of people’s wrongs.

Love does not celebrate evil, but it is always hyped when the truth wins out.

Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always keeps pushing through.

Love never fails. But prophecies, They will end. Tongues, They will be silenced. Knowledge, It will pass away.

Right now, we only know part of the story and prophesy part of it,

But when the full deal comes, the partial stuff will be gone.

When I was a kid, I talked like a kid, thought like a kid, acted like a kid. But when I grew up, I left all that kid stuff behind.

Now we see things like looking in a blurry mirror, but one day, we will see face to face. Right now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just like I am fully known by God.

So here is what remains: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
