1 Corinthians 12

Spiritual Gifts

1 Aight, fam, let us talk about spiritual gifts. I do not want you all to be in the dark about this.

2 You all remember back in the day when you were out here chasing after dumb idols, being led astray, right,

3 So let me make it clear: nobody speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and nobody can say, “Jesus is Lord,” unless they got the Holy Spirit.

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit is handing them out.

5 There are different kinds of ways to serve, but it is the same Lord we serving.

6 There are different types of work being done, but it is the same God making it all happen.

7 Each of us got something from the Spirit to help the whole squad out.

8 One person might get wisdom from the Spirit, another might get knowledge, but it is still the same Spirit.

9 Some get faith from the Spirit, others get the gift of healing, all from the same Spirit.

10 Some can do miracles, some can prophesy, some can tell which spirits are real or fake. Others can speak in tongues, and some can translate those tongues.

11 But it is the same Spirit handing out these gifts, deciding who gets what.

One Body, Many Members

12 Just like the body is one but got many parts, we the same way, it is one body, but we all got different parts.

13 Whether you Jew or Greek, slave or free, we all got baptized into one body by the same Spirit, and we all got the same drink from the Spirit.

14 The body is not just one part, it has got mad parts.

15 If the foot says, “Listen, since I am not a hand, I do not belong in the body,” that does not make it any less part of the body.

16 And if the ear says, “I am not an eye, so I am not part of the body,” it is still in the body.

17 If the whole body was an eye, how would we hear, If the whole body was an ear, how would we smell,

18 But God set up the parts of the body just how He wanted them.

19 If they were all one part, how would the body work,

20 But check it, there are many parts, but still one body.

21 The eye cannot tell the hand, “I do not need you.” And the head cannot tell the feet, “I do not need you all.”

22 Matter of fact, the parts of the body that seem weak are actually the most necessary.

23 And the parts we think are less honorable, we treat them with more respect. The parts that is not out there like that get extra care.

24 The parts that are out there do not need any special care. But God put the body together, giving honor to the parts that lack it.

25 This way, there is no beef in the body, but every part looks out for the others.

26 When one part of the body suffers, we all suffer. When one part gets honored, we all celebrate.

27 You all are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

28 God put different people in the church, first apostles, then prophets, then teachers, then people who do miracles, then people who heal, people who help others, people who lead, and people who speak in tongues.

29 Is everybody an apostle, Is everybody a prophet, Is everybody a teacher, Does everybody do miracles,

30 Does everybody heal, Does everybody speak in tongues, Does everybody translate tongues,

31 But you all should desire the most important gifts. And now I am going to show you all an even better way.
