The Sons of Israel (Jacob)
1 Here go the sons of Israel (that is Jacob): Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2 Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
The Line of Judah
3 Judah had three sons with a Canaanite woman, Shua’s daughter, they were Er, Onan, and Shelah. But the LORD said Er, Judah’s firstborn, was straight-up wicked, so He took him out.
4 Tamar, Judah’s daughter-in-law, had twin boys by him, Perez and Zerah. So Judah had five sons in all.
5 Perez had Hezron and Hamul.
6 Zerah had Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara, five of them total.
7 Zimri’s son was Carmi, and Carmi’s son was Achar, the one who brought drama to Israel when he stole from what was supposed to be dedicated to God.
8 Ethan’s son was Azariah.
From Hezron to Ram
9 Hezron had Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.
10 Ram had Amminadab. Amminadab had Nahshon, who was leader over the people of Judah.
11 Nahshon had Salmon. Salmon had Boaz.
12 Boaz had Obed. Obed had Jesse.
13 Jesse had seven sons: Eliab the oldest, Abinadab second, Shimea third,
14 Nethanel fourth, Raddai fifth,
15 Ozem sixth, and David was the baby boy, the seventh.
16 Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had Abishai, Joab, and Asahel, three serious brothers.
17 Abigail had Amasa. Amasa’s daddy was Jether the Ishmaelite.
More Hezron Descendants
18 Hezron had a son named Caleb with a woman named Azubah. Her full name was Azubah of Jerioth. Her sons were Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19 When Azubah passed, Hezron married Ephrath, and she had Hur.
20 Hur had Uri. Uri had Bezalel.
Hezron’s Marriage in Old Age
21 Later, when Hezron was 60, he married the daughter of Makir (from the tribe of Manasseh). She gave birth to Segub.
22 Segub had Jair, who ran 23 towns in Gilead.
23 But Geshur and Aram took the villages of Jair from them, and also took Kenath and its villages, 60 towns total. All of that belonged to the clan of Makir, father of Gilead.
24 After Hezron died in Caleb-Ephrathah, his wife Abijah had Ashhur, who founded Tekoa.
The Line of Jerahmeel (Hezron’s Oldest Son)
25 Hezron’s oldest son Jerahmeel had these sons: Ram (his firstborn), Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26 Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah, and she gave birth to Onam.
27 Ram (Jerahmeel’s first son) had Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28 Onam had Shammai and Jada. Shammai had Nadab and Abishur.
29 Abishur’s wife’s name was Abihail, and they had Ahban and Molid.
30 Nadab had Seled and Appaim. Seled died with no kids.
31 Appaim had Ishi. Ishi had Sheshan. Sheshan had Ahlai.
32 Jada (Shammai’s brother) had Jether and Jonathan. Jether died with no kids.
33 Jonathan had Peleth and Zaza. These were Jerahmeel’s family line.
34 Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. So he gave his daughter to one of his servants, an Egyptian named Jarha.
35 Sheshan’s daughter and Jarha had Attai.
36 Attai had Nathan. Nathan had Zabad.
37 Zabad had Ephlal. Ephlal had Obed.
38 Obed had Jehu. Jehu had Azariah.
39 Azariah had Helez. Helez had Eleasah.
40 Eleasah had Sismai. Sismai had Shallum.
41 Shallum had Jekamiah. Jekamiah had Elishama.
More of Caleb’s Descendants
42 Caleb (brother of Jerahmeel) had sons by his wife Mareshah. His firstborn was Mesha, who founded Ziph. Caleb also had sons by Mareshah’s clan, who founded Hebron.
43 Hebron had Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44 Shema had Raham, who founded Jorkeam. Rekem had Shammai.
45 Shammai had Maon. Maon founded Bethzur.
46 Caleb’s side chick was Ephah. She had Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran had Gazez.
47 Jahdai had Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48 Caleb had another concubine named Maacah. She had Sheber and Tirhanah.
49 She also had Shaaph (who founded Madmannah) and Sheva (who founded Machbenah and Gibea). Caleb’s daughter was Achsah.
50 These were descendants of Caleb: Hur (Caleb’s firstborn by Ephrathah), who had Shobal (the one who founded Kiriath-jearim),
51 Salma (who founded Bethlehem), and Hareph (who founded Beth-gader).
52 Shobal (from Kiriath-jearim) had sons, Haroeh and half the clan of Menuhoth.
53 The clans from Kiriath-jearim were the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. From them came the Zorathites and Eshtaolites.
54 Salma (from Bethlehem) had the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-Joab, half the Manahathites, and the Zorites.
55 And the scribes (teachers of the Law) who lived at Jabez were the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. They were the Kenites, who came from Hammath, father of the Rechab clan.
