The Line from Adam to Noah

1 Adam had a son named Seth. Seth had Enosh. Then came Kenan.

2 Kenan’s son was Mahalalel. Then came Jared.

3 Jared had Enoch. Enoch had Methuselah. Methuselah had Lamech.

4 Lamech had Noah. And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Japheth’s Line

5 Japheth had Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

6 Gomer’s boys were Ashkenaz, Diphath, and Togarmah.

7 Javan had Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.

Ham’s Line

8 Ham had Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

9 Cush’s sons were Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raama, and Sabteca. Raama had Sheba and Dedan.

10 Cush had Nimrod too. Dude became a strong boss on the streets, like a king.

11 Mizraim had the people who became the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,

12 Pathrusites, Casluhites (where the Philistines came from), and the Caphtorites.

13 Canaan had Sidon (his first son), and Heth.

14 Also the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,

15 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,

16 Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites.

Shem’s Line

17 Shem’s sons were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. Aram’s sons were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech.

18 Arphaxad had Shelah. Shelah had Eber.

19 Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg, because during his time the world got split up. His brother’s name was Joktan.

20 Joktan had Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

21 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

22 Ebal, Abimael, Sheba,

23 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All those were Joktan’s people.

The Line from Shem to Abraham

24 From Shem came Arphaxad, then Shelah.

25 Then Eber, Peleg, Reu,

26 Serug, Nahor, Terah,

27 And then came Abram, who got renamed Abraham.

Abraham’s Family Line

28 Abraham had two sons, Isaac and Ishmael.

29 These are Ishmael’s sons, by name and birth order: Nebaioth (firstborn), then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

30 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema,

31 Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. These were Ishmael’s boys.

32 Abraham had other kids through Keturah, his side-wife. She had Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan had Sheba and ” edan.

33 Midian had Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All them boys came from Keturah.

Isaac’s Line

34 Isaac had Esau and Israel (Jacob).

The People of Esau (Edom)

35 Esau’s sons were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

36 Eliphaz had Teman, Omar, Zephi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.

37 Reuel had Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.

38 Seir’s sons were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.

39 Lotan’s sons: Hori and Homam. Lotan’s sister was Timna.

40 Shobal had Alian, Manahath, Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. Zibeon had Aiah and Anah.

41 Anah had Dishon. Dishon had Hamran, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

42 Ezer had Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. Dishan had Uz and Aran.

The Kings Who Ruled Edom Before Israel Had Kings

43 These were the kings who ruled in Edom before Israel ever had a king: Bela (son of Beor); his city was named Dinhabah.

44 When Bela died, Jobab (son of Zerah from Bozrah) took his spot.

45 When Jobab died, Husham (from the land of the Temanites) became king.

46 After Husham died, Hadad (son of Bedad) ruled. He is the one who beat Midian in the land of Moab. His city was Avith.

47 Hadad died. Then Samlah of Masrekah ruled.

48 After Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth by the River ruled.

49 When Shaul died, Baal-hanan (son of Achbor) ruled.

50 After he died, Hadad ruled. His city was Pai. His wife’s name was Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.

Edom’s Tribal Chiefs

51 Then came the chiefs of Edom: Timna, Aliah, Jetheth,

52 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,

53 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,

54 Magdiel, and Iram. These were Edom’s tribal bosses.
