Sound Doctrine for Godly Living

1 But you, Titus, teach what lines up with sound doctrine.

Instructions for Different Groups

2 Tell older men to be self-controlled, respectable, wise, and strong in faith, love, and patience.

3 Older women should live in a way that honors God, no gossip or heavy drinking, but teaching what is good.

4 They should train younger women to love their husbands and kids,

5 to be self-controlled, pure, managing their households, and respecting their husbands, so no one can disrespect God’s Word.

6 Tell young men to be self-controlled,

7 and set the example yourself by doing good works. Be real, serious, and legit in your teaching.

8 Teach sound words that cannot be criticized, so anyone coming at you will look dumb.

9 Tell slaves to respect their masters, do not talk back,

10 and do not steal. Be trustworthy so they make God look good.

The Grace of God

11 God’s grace has appeared, bringing salvation to everyone.

12 It trains us to say no to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live righteous, godly lives now.

13 We are waiting on the hope, the return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

14 who gave Himself to free us from wickedness and make us His people, eager to do good.

15 Preach this stuff, encourage folks, and correct them with authority. Do not let anyone look down on you.
