Romans 6

Read Romans 6 in clear, relatable modern language.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

So, what is the move, Should we keep sinning so that God’s grace can flex even more,

Nah, fam! We died to sin. How we are going to keep living in it,

Do you not all know that when we got baptized into Christ Jesus, we got baptized into His death,

So, we were buried with Him through baptism into death. That way, just like Christ was raised from the dead by God’s glory, we can walk in a new life too.

If we are connected with Him in His death, best believe we are connected with Him in His resurrection too.

We know our old selves got nailed to that cross with Him so that sin’s grip on us would get broken. We are not slaves to sin anymore.

Anybody who is dead is free from sin.

Now, if we died with Christ, we believe we are going to live with Him too.

Christ got raised from the dead, and death has no hold on Him anymore. Death cannot touch Him.

When He died, He died to sin once for all. But now that He lives, He lives for God.

So you all must see yourselves the same way, dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Do not let sin run the show in your body, making you do whatever it wants.

Do not let any part of yourself be used for wickedness, but offer yourselves to God, like someone who is come back from the dead. Let every part of you be used for good, for God’s purposes.

Sin is not your boss anymore. You are not under the law but under grace now.

So, what is the deal then, Since we are under grace, does that mean we can just sin like it is cool, Nah, not at all!

Do you not know that when you offer yourself to obey someone, you become their servant, If you serve sin, it leads to death. But if you serve God, it leads to righteousness.

Thank God that though you used to be slaves to sin, now you all obey from the heart the teaching you received.

You have been set free from sin and now are slaves to righteousness.

I am keeping it real simple, because you all human. Just like you used to offer your body to sin, doing wild stuff that led to more wickedness, now offer your body to righteousness, which leads to holiness.

When you all were slaves to sin, you were not concerned with living right.

But what did you get from that life, Nothing but shame and death.

But now that you are free from sin and serving God, you get holiness, and in the end, eternal life.

Because the paycheck sin pays is death, but the free gift God gives is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
