The Seventh Seal
When the Lamb cracked open the seventh seal, heaven went silent for about half an hour.
I saw the seven angels standing before God, and they were given seven trumpets.
Then another angel came up and stood at the altar with a golden incense burner. He was given a lot of incense to offer with the prayers of all God’s people on the golden altar in front of the throne.
The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.
Then the angel took the incense burner, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it down onto the earth. Thunder crashed, lightning flashed, and the earth shook.
The seven angels with the seven trumpets got ready to blow.
The Trumpets Begin
The first angel blew his trumpet, and hail and fire, mixed with blood, came down on the earth. A third of the earth burned up, a third of the trees went up in flames, and all the green grass was scorched.
The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all on fire, got thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood,
A third of the sea creatures died, and a third of the ships were wrecked.
The third angel blew his trumpet, and a massive star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
The star’s name was Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the water because it was so toxic.
The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so a third of them went dark. The day lost a third of its light, and so did the night.
Then I looked and heard an eagle flying high overhead, shouting, “Woe! Woe! Woe to the people living on earth because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”
