Revelation 4

The Throne in Heaven

1 After all that, I looked up, and there was a door open in heaven. The voice I heard before, sounding like a loud trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what is coming next.”

2 Right then, the Spirit took hold of me, and boom, I was in the throne room. There was this massive throne in heaven, with someone sitting on it.

3 The One on the throne, Shining like precious gems, like jasper and ruby. A rainbow circled the throne, glowing like emerald.

4 Around the throne, there were 24 more thrones, and on those sat 24 elders, dressed in fresh white robes, with golden crowns on their heads.

5 From the throne came lightning, rumblings, and loud thunder. Right in front of the throne, seven blazing torches were lit, these are the seven spirits of God.

6 In front of the throne was something like a crystal-clear sea, smooth as glass. And around the throne, on all four sides, were four living beings covered in eyes, front and back.

7 The first being looked like a lion, the second like an ox, the third had a face like a man, and the fourth looked like a flying eagle.

8 Each of these beings had six wings, covered with eyes all around, even under their wings. Day and night, they are calling out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and who is coming!”

9 Every time these beings give glory, honor, and thanks to the One on the throne, the One who lives forever.

10 The 24 elders get up, bow down before the One on the throne, take off their crowns, and lay them down, giving respect to the Eternal One.

11 And they say, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to get all the glory, honor, and power, because you made everything. Everything exists because you wanted it to be.”
