Psalms 73

The Envy of the Wicked

1 For real, God is good to Israel, To those with a clean heart.

2 But me, my feet almost slipped; My steps almost went off.

3 Because I was jealous of the proud, When I saw the wicked getting it good.

4 Because they do not have any pain when they die, And their body is fat.

5 They are not in trouble like other dudes, And they are not hit like other humans.

6 So pride is their necklace; Violence covers them like a jacket.

7 Their eyes bug out with fatness; They got more than their heart can handle.

8 They talk slick and talk evil about oppression; They talk all high and mighty.

9 They put their mouth in the heavens, And their tongue walks through the earth.

10 So His people turn to them, And they drink water in big gulps.

11 And they say, “How would God know, Is there even knowledge with the Most High?”

12 Look, these are the wicked dudes; Always chilling, they getting more money.

A Moment of Despair

13 For real, I cleaned my heart for no reason, And washed my hands in innocence.

14 For I was hit all day long, And disciplined every morning.

15 If I had talked like that, I would have been fake to the family of Your kids.

The Turning Point

16 When I thought about how to get it, it was too hard for me,

17 Until I went into the holy spots of God; Then I got their future.

18 For sure, You put them in slippery places; You throw them down to get messed up.

19 How fast they get wiped out, they are gone! They get finished with terror.

20 Like a dream when a dude wakes up, So, Lord, when You wake up, You will look down on their image.

A Confession of Trust

21 When my heart was bitter, And I was stabbed in my gut,

22 Then I was a fool and did not get it; I was like an animal in front of You.

23 But I am always with You; You held my right hand.

24 You will guide me with Your advice, And after, You will take me into props.

25 Who do I got in heaven but You, And on earth, there is not anything I want besides You.

26 My body and my heart might fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

The End of the Wicked

27 Because look, those who are far from You will be wiped out; You killed everyone who cheated on You.

28 But me, to be close to God is good for me; I made the Lord God my safe spot, So I can tell about all Your works.
