Psalms 57
Read Psalms 57 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Prayer for God’s Mercy
1 Show me grace, God, show me grace, because my soul runs to You for safety; And I run to the shadow of Your wings Until the destruction is gone.
2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who does it all for me.
3 He will send from heaven and save me; He will diss the one who is chasing me. God will send His grace and His truth.
A Cry Against Enemies
4 My soul is in the middle of lions; I am laying with those who breathe fire, With the sons of humans whose teeth are spears and arrows, Whose tongue is a sharp sword.
5 Be lifted high over the heavens, God; Let Your glory be over the whole earth.
6 They set a net for my steps; My soul is bent down. They dug a pit in front of me; They fell into it.
A Hymn of Praise
7 My heart is set, God, my heart is set; I will sing and make music.
8 Wake up, my soul! Wake up, harp and guitar! I will wake up the morning.
9 I will thank You among the people, Lord; I will sing praises to You among the nations.
10 Because Your grace is big-time to the heavens, And Your truth to the clouds.
11 Be lifted high over the heavens, God; Let Your glory be over the whole earth.
