Psalms 37

Read Psalms 37 in clear, relatable modern language.

The Path of the Righteous

Do not get mad about the evil-doers; Do not be jealous of those who do wrong.

Because they are going to get cut off fast like grass, And dry up quick like a green plant.

Trust in the Lord and do what is good; Live in the land and keep it real.

Get your joy from the Lord, And He is going to give you what your heart wants.

Hand over your way to the Lord; Trust in Him, and He is going to make it happen.

He is going to make your righteousness shine like the sun, And your justice like the noonday light.

Chill out in the Lord and wait on Him with patience; Do not be mad when a dude’s hustle works out, When he is pulling off his evil schemes.

Chill on the anger and get rid of the rage; Do not trip, it just leads to more evil.

Because the evil-doers are going to get cut off, But those who wait on the Lord will get the land.

Just a little while, and the wicked is not going to be there; You will look for their spot, and they are gone.

But the humble will get the land And get to chill with a bunch of peace.

The End of the Wicked

The wicked dude cooks up stuff against the righteous, And grinds his teeth at him.

But the Lord laughs at him, because He sees his day coming.

The wicked drew the sword and bent the bow To knock down the broke and the needy, To murder the straight-up people.

Their sword is going to go into their own heart, And their bows will be broken.

A little something the righteous dude got Is better than the massive wealth of a bunch of wicked.

Because the arms of the wicked are going to be broken, But the Lord holds up the righteous.

The Deliverance of the Righteous

The Lord knows the days of the perfect, And their inheritance will last forever.

They are not going to get embarrassed in bad times, And when there is no food, they will get fed.

But the wicked are going to get wiped out; The Lord’s enemies are going to be gone like the fat of lambs, They are going to disappear like smoke.

The wicked dude borrows and do not pay back, But the righteous dude gives with an open hand.

Because those He blesses are going to get the land, But those He curses are going to get cut off.

The Lord sets up the dude’s steps, And He is happy with his hustle.

Even if he stumbles, he is not going to fall hard, because the Lord holds him by the hand.

I was young, now I am old; But I never seen the righteous left behind, Or his kids begging for bread.

He is always giving, and lending, And his kids are a blessing.

Get away from evil and do good, And you can chill forever.

Because the Lord loves what is right And He is not going to ditch His faithful ones. They are kept safe forever, But the family of the wicked will get cut off.

The righteous are going to get the land And live in it forever.

The End of the Wicked and the Righteous

The mouth of the righteous dude speaks wisdom, And his tongue talks what is right.

The law of his God is in his heart; His steps is not going to slip.

The wicked dude watches the righteous, And tries to take his life.

The Lord is not going to leave him in his hands, Or let him get clowned when he is being judged.

Wait on the Lord and keep His way, And He will lift you up to get the land; When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

I saw a wicked dude acting all big, Spreading out like a fresh tree.

But he passed by, and look, he was gone; I looked for him, but he could not be found.

Check out the perfect dude and look at the straight-up dude, because the future for that dude is peace.

But the messed-up people will all get wiped out; The future of the wicked will be cut off.

The rescue of the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their fortress in times of trouble.

The Lord will help them and rescue them; He will rescue them from the wicked And save them, because they ran to Him.
