Psalms 149

A Hymn of Praise for God’s People

1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the crew of the faithful.

2 Let Israel be happy in his Maker; Let the sons of Zion cheer in their King.

3 Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them make music to Him with the tambourine and guitar.

4 Because the Lord is happy with His people; He makes the humble shine with rescue.

5 Let the faithful be happy in props; Let them cheer out loud on their beds.

A Word on God’s Justice

6 Let the praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hands,

7 To do payback on the nations, And punishments on the people,

8 To trap their kings with chains, And their respected ones with iron fetters,

9 To do to them the judgment that is written; This honor is for all His faithful. Praise the Lord!
