Psalms 118

A Hymn of Praise

1 Thank the Lord, because He is good; because His loyal grace is forever.

2 Let Israel say, “His loyal grace is forever.”

3 Let the family of Aaron say, “His loyal grace is forever.”

4 Let those who fear the Lord say, “His loyal grace is forever.

A Song of Deliverance

5 In my trouble I called on the Lord; The Lord answered me and put me in a wide-open space.

6 The Lord is for me; I will not be scared. What can a dude do to me,

7 The Lord is for me among those who help me; So I will look at my haters’ defeat.

8 It is better to run to the Lord for safety Than to trust in a dude.

9 It is better to run to the Lord for safety Than to trust in princes.

A Vow of Praise

10 All the nations surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I cut them off.

11 They surrounded me, for sure they surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I cut them off.

12 They surrounded me like bees; They were put out like a fire of thorns; In the name of the Lord I cut them off.

13 You pushed me hard to make me fall, But the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and my song, And He became my rescue.

15 The sound of cheering and rescue is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord does awesome things.

16 The right hand of the Lord is lifted high; The right hand of the Lord does awesome things.

17 I will not die, but I will live, And tell about the works of the Lord.

18 The Lord disciplined me hard, But He did not hand me over to death.

A Final Word

19 Open the gates of righteousness for me; I will come into them and thank the Lord.

20 This is the gate of the Lord; The righteous will come into it.

21 I will thank You, because You answered me And became my rescue.

22 The stone that the builders looked down on Became the main cornerstone.

23 This was from the Lord; It is awesome in our eyes.

24 This is the day the Lord made; We will be happy and celebrate in it.

25 Lord, save us; Lord, give us success.

26 Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; We bless you from the house of the Lord.

27 The Lord is God, and He gave us light; Strap the sacrifice to the corners of the altar.

28 You are my God, and I will thank You; You are my God, I will lift You up.

29 Thank the Lord, because He is good, because His loyal grace is forever.
