Psalms 103
Read Psalms 103 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Hymn to God’s Mercy
1 My soul, bless the Lord, And all that is in me, bless His holy name!
2 My soul, bless the Lord, And do not forget all His gifts,
3 Who forgives all your sins, Who heals all your sickness,
4 Who rescues your life from the pit, Who crowns you with loyal grace and mercy,
5 Who fills your mouth with good things, So your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
A Declaration of God’s Character
6 The Lord does what is right, And justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made His ways known to Moses, His doings to the sons of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and graceful, Slow to get mad and big in loyal grace.
9 He will not be mad forever, And He will not keep His anger forever.
10 He did not deal with us based on our sins, Or pay us back based on our wrongs.
11 Because as high as the heavens are over the earth, So big is His loyal grace to those who fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, So far He put our sins from us.
13 Like a dad feels for his kids, So the Lord feels for those who fear Him.
14 Because He knows how we are made; He remembers that we are just dust.
The Frailty of Man
15 As for a dude, his days are like grass; He grows like a flower of the field;
16 Because the wind goes over it, and it is gone, And its spot do not know it anymore.
17 But the loyal grace of the Lord is from forever to forever on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to the kids of their kids,
18 To those who keep His promise, And remember His commands to do them.
A Final Call to Praise
19 The Lord set up His throne in the heavens, And His kingdom rules over everything.
20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, Who do His word, listening to the sound of His word.
21 Bless the Lord, all His armies, You His ministers who do His will.
22 Bless the Lord, all His works, In all the spots of His kingdom. My soul, bless the Lord!
