Proverbs 2

Read Proverbs 2 in clear, relatable modern language.

The Value of Wisdom

My son, if you take my words to heart, stack my commands deep inside you.

Tune your ear to wisdom, lock your heart on understanding.

Cry out for street smarts, beg loud for insight.

Hunt it down like silver, chase it like buried treasure.

Then you are going to catch the fear of the Lord, then you are going to find the knowledge of God.

Because the Lord be giving wisdom, straight from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He got solid game stored up for the upright; He shields the ones walking straight.

He keeps watch over justice, holding down His loyal ones.

Then you are going to know what is right, what is fair, what is real on these streets.

Wisdom going to hit your heart, knowledge going to be sweet to your soul.

Good sense is going to guard you, and understanding is going to keep you safe.

Saving you from shady dudes talking twisted lies.

From the ones who left the straight block to walk in darkness.

Who get hyped doing dirt, celebrate wicked moves.

Whose paths stay crooked, lives bent outta line.

Wisdom going to keep you from the slick-talking woman, the stranger with smooth lines.

She dipped on the man she vowed to, forgot her promise to God.

Her house sinking straight to the grave, her paths lead down to death.

Nobody who slides with her makes it back, they do not find the road to life.

Wisdom sets you walking with the good ones, holding it down with the righteous.

The straight shooters going to live in the land, the loyal going to stay rooted.

But the wicked going to get cut off, the fake ones ripped out.
