Proverbs 14

The Wise Woman

1 A wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

2 He who walks straight fears the Lord, but the crooked despise Him.

3 A fool’s mouth is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

4 Where there no oxen, the crib clean, but much profit comes from the strength of the ox.

5 A faithful witness do not lie, but a false witness spits lies.

6 A mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge easy to the one who understands.

7 Leave the presence of a fool, you will not find knowledge in his talk.

8 The wisdom of the prudent to think ahead, but the folly of fools deception.

9 Fools mock sin, but among the upright is favor.

10 The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy.

11 The house of the wicked gets wrecked, but the tent of the upright flourishes.

12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end leads to death.

13 Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief.

14 The backslider gets filled with his own ways, and the good man gets satisfied from his own.

15 The simple believe anything, but the prudent think before they move.

16 A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a fool keeps going reckless.

17 A short-tempered man acts foolish, and a schemer hated.

18 The simple inherit folly, but the prudent get crowned with knowledge.

19 The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 The poor hated even by their neighbor, but the rich got many friends.

21 Whoever despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who shows mercy to the poor.

22 Do not those who plot evil go astray, But those who plan good find love and faithfulness.

23 All hard work brings profit, but just talk leads to poverty.

24 The crown of the wise their riches, but the folly of fools brings foolishness.

25 A true witness saves lives, but a false one speaks lies.

26 In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence; His children got a place of refuge.

27 The fear of the Lord a fountain of life, turning people from death traps.

28 A big population a king’s glory, but lack of people his downfall.

29 Whoever slow to anger got great understanding, but the quick-tempered show foolishness.

30 A peaceful heart gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

31 He who oppresses the poor insults his Maker, but whoever helps the needy honors Him.

32 The wicked get thrown down by evil, but the righteous got refuge even in death.

33 Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning, but she has exposed among fools.

34 Righteousness lifts a nation, but sin a disgrace to any people.

35 A king delights in a wise servant, but his wrath hits the shameful one.
