Leviticus 6

Guilt Offering for Sins Against Others

1 The Lord spoke to Moses.

2 If someone sins by cheating their neighbor, lying about something entrusted to them, stealing, or swearing falsely, they are guilty.

3 If they find lost property and lie about it, or swear falsely in any sin like this, they are guilty before the Lord.

4 When they realize their guilt, they must return what they stole, cheated, or lied about.

5 They must pay it back in full, plus add twenty percent extra, and give it to the rightful owner on the same day they bring their guilt offering.

6 They must bring a ram with no defects as their guilt offering to the priest, valued properly as a guilt offering to the Lord.

7 The priest will make atonement for them before the Lord, and they will be forgiven for whatever they did wrong.

The Burnt Offering Must Keep Burning

8 Then the Lord told Moses.

9 Give Aaron and his sons these instructions about the burnt offering. The burnt offering must stay on the altar all night, and the fire must never go out.

10 The priest must put on his linen robe and linen undergarments, then take out the ashes left from the burnt offering and place them beside the altar.

11 Then he must take off those clothes, put on others, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place.

12 The fire on the altar must keep burning. The priest must add wood every morning, arrange the burnt offering on it, and burn the fat of the peace offering on top.

13 The fire must always be burning on the altar. It can never go out.

The Grain Offering Instructions

14 These are the rules for the grain offering. Aaron’s sons must present it before the Lord, in front of the altar.

15 The priest must take a handful of fine flour mixed with oil, along with all the frankincense, and burn it on the altar as a sweet-smelling offering to the Lord.

16 The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons. They must eat it without yeast in a holy place, in the courtyard of the Tabernacle.

17 It must not be baked with yeast. This portion is holy, just like the sin offering and guilt offering.

18 Only the male descendants of Aaron can eat it. This is a lasting rule for all generations. Anything that touches these offerings becomes holy.

Special Grain Offering for the Priests

19 Then the Lord told Moses.

20 This is the grain offering Aaron and his sons must present to the Lord on the day they are anointed. They must bring two quarts of fine flour, half in the morning and half in the evening.

21 Cook it with oil on a griddle, then bring it in as a baked offering, broken into pieces. This will be a sweet-smelling offering to the Lord.

22 The priest who takes Aaron’s place must present it before the Lord. This is a lasting rule. The whole thing must be burned.

23 Every grain offering from a priest must be burned completely. It must not be eaten.

The Sin Offering Instructions

24 Then the Lord told Moses.

25 Tell Aaron and his sons these rules for the sin offering. The sin offering must be slaughtered before the Lord at the same place as the burnt offering. This offering is most holy.

26 The priest who offers the sin offering must eat it in a holy place, in the courtyard of the Tabernacle.

27 Whatever touches the sin offering becomes holy. If blood spills on a garment, it must be washed in a holy place.

28 If it was cooked in a clay pot, the pot must be broken. If it was cooked in a bronze pot, the pot must be scrubbed and rinsed with water.

29 Only the male priests may eat the sin offering, because it is most holy.

30 But if any blood from the sin offering is brought inside the Tabernacle to make atonement, it must not be eaten. It must be burned up completely.
