Deuteronomy 10

God Gives Moses the Ten Commandments Again

1 Moses said, “Then the Lord told me, ‘Carve out two stone tablets like the first ones and come back up the mountain. Also, make a wooden Ark to store them in.’”

2 “‘I will write the same words on these new tablets that were on the first ones, the ones you broke. Then put them in the Ark.’”

3 “So I made an Ark out of acacia wood and carved two stone tablets just like the first ones. Then I went back up the mountain.”

4 “God wrote on the tablets again, the same Ten Commandments He spoke from the fire at Mount Sinai. Then He gave them to me.”

5 “I came down the mountain and put the tablets inside the Ark I had made, just like the Lord commanded. And they are still there today.”

6 “After that, the Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene-Jaakan to Moserah, where Aaron died and was buried. His son Eleazar took over as high priest.”

7 “Then we moved on to Gudgodah, and from there to Jotbathah, a land with plenty of water.”

8 “At that time, the Lord set apart the Levites to carry the Ark of the Covenant, to serve Him and bless the people in His name.”

9 “That is why the Levites do not have their own land, the Lord Himself is their inheritance, just like He promised.”

Moses Prayed & God Spared Israel

10 “I stayed on the mountain for another 40 days and nights, just like before. And this time, the Lord listened to me and did not destroy you all.”

11 “Then the Lord said, ‘Get up and lead the people into the land I swore to give their ancestors. It is time for them to take possession of it.’”

What Does God Really Want from You,

12 “Now, Israel, what does the Lord really want from you, He wants you to fear Him, walk in His ways, love Him, serve Him with all your heart and soul.”

13 “And obey His commands, for your own good!”

14 “Everything in heaven and earth belongs to the Lord, He owns it all!”

15 “But out of all the nations, God chose you to be His special people!”

Circumcise Your Hearts & Stop Being Stubborn

16 “So circumcise your hearts, stop being so stubborn!”

17 “Because the Lord your God is the realest one there is! He is the God of gods and Lord of lords, He is great, powerful, and awesome! He does not play favorites and He does not take bribes!”

18 “He defends orphans and widows, and He loves foreigners, He gives them food and clothes.”

19 “Since you all were once foreigners in Egypt, treat foreigners with love and respect!”

Fear the Lord & Hold on to Him

20 “Fear the Lord your God, serve Him, hold on to Him, and make your oaths in His name.”

21 “He is your praise! He is your God! He is the one who did those great and awesome miracles for you!”

22 “When your ancestors went to Egypt, they were only 70 people. But now, the Lord has made you all as numerous as the stars in the sky!”
