Growing in Faith and Prophecy

1 This letter is from Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus. I am writing to you all who share the same precious faith we got, thanks to God and Jesus, who make us right.

2 May you get mad grace and peace as you grow in knowing God and Jesus better.

3 God’s power has hooked us up with everything we need to live godly lives. It is all in knowing Him, who called us to His glory and greatness.

4 Through His promises, He gave us access to His divine nature, so we can dodge the corruption in this world caused by people’s cravings.

5 So, stack on your faith with goodness, knowledge,

6 self-control, perseverance, godliness,

7 kindness, and love.

8 If you got these qualities and they are growing, you will not be lazy or useless in knowing Jesus.

9 But if you are lacking them, you are blind and forgot you have been cleaned from your old sins.

10 So, fam, work hard to confirm your calling and election. If you do this, you will not fall.

11 And you will get a VIP pass into Jesus’ eternal kingdom.

12 I will keep reminding you all of these things, even though you already know and are standing firm in the truth.

13 As long as I am alive, I am going to keep waking you all up to this truth.

14 I know my time here is short, just like Jesus showed me.

15 So I will make sure you remember these things after I am gone.

16 We did not make up fairy tales when we told you about Jesus’ power and return. We saw His majesty ourselves.

17 We heard the voice from heaven when He got honor from God: “This is My Son, whom I love.”

18 We were there on the mountain and heard that voice.

19 And we got the prophetic word confirmed. Pay attention to it like a light shining in a dark place until Jesus, the Morning Star, rises in your heart.

20 Understand this: No prophecy in Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation.

21 Prophecy came from God as people spoke under the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
