Corinthians 5

Read 1 Corinthians 5 in clear, relatable modern language.

Immorality Rebuked

Listen, I heard something crazy going down in your squad. Some dude’s sleeping with his stepmom, and you all just letting it slide, Not even folks in the streets are doing that!

You all over here acting all proud, but you should be crying about it! You need to cut that dude off from your crew!

Even though I am not there in person, I am there in spirit, and I have already judged homie like I was there.

When you all come together in the name of Jesus, and my spirit is there with the power of the Lord,

Hand that dude over to Satan so his flesh can be dealt with, but his soul can still be saved when the Lord comes.

You all bragging is not a good look. Do you not all know that a little yeast can mess up the whole batch of dough,

Get rid of that old yeast so you all can be fresh dough, like you all supposed to be, because Christ, our Passover Lamb, got sacrificed for us.

So let us have this feast, but not with that old yeast of sin and wickedness, but with the bread of sincerity and truth.

I already told you all in my last letter to stay away from folks living wild in sexual sin.

I was not talking about the people in the world who sin like that, or who are greedy, or scammers, or idol worshipers. You would have to leave the world to avoid all of them.

But I am saying if someone calls themselves a believer but is out here wilding, sleeping around, being greedy, or disrespecting God, do not even eat with them.

It is not my job to judge outsiders, but is it not our job to check those inside the fam,

God is going to handle the outsiders. But you all must remove the wicked person from among you all.
